WATER
WONDERS - A Free Workshop
“Water Wonders,” is a hands-on program for Manatee & Sarasota
County middle school students. This program includes a 2-hour workshop and 30
minutes of exhibit floor exploration at no additional cost to the student.
The “Water Wonders” program follows the Sunshine State Science Standards
and consists of a 40-minute introduction about the wonders of water, and four
20-minute inquiry-based hands-on lessons where students have the opportunity
to become environmental scientists for the day. These new G.WIZ environmental
scientists explore the importance of water in their world, observe the importance
of water to the bay front environment, investigate microscopic activity in water
samples, model point and non-point sources of pollution in the watershed, discuss
the importance of keeping the ecosystem of the coastal zones healthy, and conduct
water-quality tests.
This free 3-hour workshop is from 10 am to 1 pm Mondays through Fridays. If you
are interested in signing up for this program and also need information on bus
transportation, please contact G.WIZ at (941) 309-4949 x116. |
