GWIZ Volunteer Opportunities

GWIZ is a not-for-profit Science and Technology Museum that relies heavily on the generous efforts of volunteers to provide an interactive learning experience for all of our visitors. Whenever you see GWIZ in the community you are looking at the volunteer efforts of engineers, graphic designers, business people and scientists.  Volunteers are the heart of our organization and their support plays a major role in the success of GWIZ.

Become a part of Sarasota’s only Science and Technology Museum through GWIZ’s adult volunteer program.

High school students can apply to volunteer through the GWIZ Youth Leadership Program.  Deadline for program applicants is July 7, 2011.  Click here for more information on the Youth Leadership Program or click here for an application.

OPPORTUNITIES TO GET INVOLVED

GWIZ volunteers work with visitors and participate behind the scenes in order to create an enhanced program for our guests. Volunteers explain exhibits, help staff special events, answer visitors’ questions, assist with clerical tasks, help out in our Museum Store, provide simple interactive tabletop demonstrations, and much more! By contributing your time and talent, you can learn something new, teach someone else, and most of all, have fun! The success of our programs depends on the efforts of enthusiastic volunteers such as yourself.

You don't need to be a scientist to volunteer! Select a position (or two or three!) that interests you:

Education / Programs

Assist visitors with exhibit questions, conduct small hands-on activities and assist with delivery of special programs and community events.

Exhibits

Help GWIZ staff repair, clean and maintain gallery exhibits.  Or perhaps you have the building bug?  GWIZ can also use your expertise in new exhibit and program supply construction.

Visitor Services

Welcome guests, answer questions, and collect visitor surveys.

Landscaping  / Plant Care

Put your green thumb to work pampering our plants and landscaping.

Office Assistant / Mailings

Assist with light office duties and bulk mailings.
